When I was eating meat one of my FAVORITE sandwiches was a BLT. I have been able to replace this with my new favorite TLT sandwich. (Tempeh, Lettuce, and Tomato)
- Tempeh sliced
- Tomato
- Lettuce
- Bread (your choice of regular or Gluten Free- I have used Gluten Free)
- Veganaise (well the amount is up to you!)
- 1 1/2 tablespoons of Grade A Maple Syrup
- 1 Tablespoon cold pressed olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon onion
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- dash of cayenne
- 1 teaspoon tamari
Ok, so let’s start with the Tempeh. It will come in a rectangular block so you can decide if you would like to make horizontal or vertical strips. I wanted mine to fit nicely on my sandwich so I went with smaller strips. Slice thinly and place in mixing bowl. Combine maple syrup, tamari, and seasonings and toss with tempeh.
Heat frying pan with either a little olive oil or coconut oil. Brown tempeh slices.
Toast your bread slices and slather up your bread with Veganaise . Top with tempeh, lettuce, and tomato.
